Using Your Life Insurance Policy

Zylka Funeral Home has partnered with American Funeral Financial to provide our clients with an easy, hassle free way to pay for the final arrangements of your loved one who has a life insurance policy. 

Normally, you would have to wait for the death certificates to arrive, and for endless paperwork to be processed before receiving a payout, which could take weeks or months. This leaves you scrambling to come up with the money to lay out for the funeral as well as the costs associated with it, such as a repass, flowers, or other final expenses.

If the life insurance policy can be verified that it is in good standing, and has been in effect for at least two years,  American Funeral Financial will allow us to get your funds released quickly-often within 24-48 hours. They also offer a "Rapid Beneficiary Cash Advance", which allows you to request money above the cost of the funeral (provided that the policy covers it) to pay for these additional expenses.

To assist you in this process, please be sure to bring the following information to the funeral arrangement conference:

• Social Security Number
• Name of the insurance company
• Policy number
• Face value of the policy
• Beneficiary Info-names, addresses, dates of birth, and social security numbers. They will need to be present to sign the paperwork.

If it is a GROUP policy (as opposed to a private, individual policy), then you will also need:

• Employer name
• Employer contact (person who handles the group policy at the office)
• Contact's phone number

If you do not request any additional funds, or there are funds left over after the funeral expenses have been paid for, the remaining balance on the policy will be mailed to the home of the beneficiary after normal processing time directly from the insurance company.
