Zylka Funeral Home has been serving the greater Perth Amboy area since 1905, when it was established by Michael Zylka, NJ Lic. 257. Michael Zylka built his reputation of commitment to the families he served by providing the highest level of care during the most difficult of times, and this tradition has been handed down through the generations, first to his son Anthony Zylka, and then to his grandson Michael R. Zylka.

Anthony Zylka took the reins in 1946 after he returned from serving his country in World War II, where he served in the Medical Corps. He was a graduate of the Eccles School of Mortuary Science.  Anthony was the past President of the Navy League in Perth Amboy, an usher in St Stephen’s RC Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador 299, and a life member of the Perth Amboy Fire Department McClellan Hose & Engine #3.

Anthony’s son, Michael R. Zylka was the third generation owner. Michael graduated from American Academy McAllister of Funeral Service, class of 1970. He was a fixture at the funeral home for most of his life, having worked here since he was a boy. Like his father before him, Michael was a life member of the Perth Amboy Fire Department McClellan Hose & Engine #3, he served as an usher at St. Stephen’s RC Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador 299, where he served as past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator. Michael also served as Vice President of Holy Name, and spent 17 years as a member of Perth Amboy Port Authority, where he served as Secretary, Chairman, and Vice-Chairman over the years.
