Ryszard T. Langner, 96, formerly of Edison passed away on May 1, 2020.
He was born on March 3, 1924 in Lwów, Poland to General Władysław Langner and Zofia Szymańska. From an early age he joined Polish Scouting rising to senior scout leader in 1937. In 1942 he joined the Polish Home Army, under the pseudonym "Złomicz" assigned to the sabotage platoon "Rygiel,” Kedyw ODB3. During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 he fought with “Battalion Krybar,” III Group “Konrad,” assault platoon “Rafalki” in the University section for which he received the Cross of Valor. He was a POW in Camp XIB Fallingbostel, Germany. After the war he took refuge in the United Kingdom where, he met his wife of 69 years, Jadwiga, who predeceased him in 2018. Together they emigrated to New Jersey to build a new life. Ryszard worked for Ford at their Edison assembly plant for 37 years.
Ryszard was dedicated to serving others and was a volunteer in many organizations including Polish Scouting, Polish American Congress, SPK and Semper Fidelis. He was President of the Home Army Veterans Association in New Jersey, one of the founding members of ZPA, and a Pułaski Cadet. He received the Silver Cross of Merit and Gold Cross of Merit for his work.
He leaves behind four devoted children, Zofia and her husband, Andrzej, Tadeusz and his wife, Sharlene, Bogdan and his wife, Laura and Danuta; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Cassandra, Alina, Lidia, Mark, Amanda, Jun, and; four great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Gage, Douglas and Clare.
