Martha Rivera Kampel

Martha Rivera Kampel, 68, of Old Bridge Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

Born and raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, Martha moved to Perth Amboy in the early 1970s and eventually settled in Old Bridge Township in 2017. She retired in 2018 after more than 30 years as an elementary and middle school teacher for the North Brunswick Township Board of Education. Martha enjoyed music, dancing, traveling and playing pickleball at the Old Bridge Township Senior Center. She loved all animals and would rescue strays when they needed help. Above all else, she enjoyed time spent with her family and especially her grandson.

Predeceased by her parents, Regaldo Rivera and Ramona Mercado, her brother, Pedro Nunez and, a grandson, Adrian Jordan Zayas, she is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Kampel; her siblings, Maria Cardona, Daniel Nunez, Judith Mercado and Delia Arboleda; her grandson, Carter Alexander Bellamy; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and; her five cats, two dogs and two birds.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 12th, at 11:00 AM, at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. A donation honoring Martha’s memory may be made to any of the following: Monmouth County SPCA, or Animal Rescue Force or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
