John R. Ditski, 91, of South Plainfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Stratford Borough.
Born and raised in Perth Amboy, "Cookie" as John was affectionately known, settled in South Plainfield in the mid 1990s. He served honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from DuPont in Parlin where he worked for many years in their film manufacturing division. He loved carpentry and taking on handyman projects. In his youth, he was a baseball player and later on he was an avid fan of both the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Cookie loved his country and our flag. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in South Plainfield. He looked forward to his many trips to Lake George in New York and fresh water fishing. He was an animal lover and had dogs almost his entire life. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and companion.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1982 and his brother Robert, he is survived by his sons, John and his wife Sandra of Mount Laurel and Joseph of Sayreville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and; his beloved long time companion Lois Gorman of South Plainfield.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 8th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Zylka Funeral Home, 513 State Street, Perth Amboy. Following a blessing at the Funeral Home, interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Perth Amboy.
