Donna Siregar Obituary

On February 27, with quiet grace, Donna Siregar passed into the arms of her Savior.  Her lessons of fierce love of family and friends will always remain her legacy.

Donna was a true Perth Amboy girl!  Born in Perth Amboy in 1951 to Edward and Eleanor (Pescinski) Majeski, Donna was a proud member of the Perth Amboy High School class of 1969.  Upon graduation from the Newberry College in Boston, Donna returned to her hometown where she married and raised her family.  Donna was a more than 30-year employee of Middlesex County where she served as Administrative Assistant to the Medical Director of Roosevelt Hospital and then in the Youth Services Shelter where she delighted in participating in activities with the children.

As a life-long member of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, one of Donna’s fondest memories was crowning the statue of Mary in May, 1968.  She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and served on many event committees.  Donna was an energetic volunteer at the Historic Village at Allaire State Park where she demonstrated 1860 cooking techniques.  Her celebratory meals, all authentically prepared over an open fire, were anticipated by the Village friends and helpers who sampled her delicacies at the end of the day.

Donna enjoyed traveling, boating and day-long excursions with friends and family.  She was a master baker of spritz and Polish cookies; traditions were important to Donna and she honored her heritage.

Donna was predeceased by her parents; brother, Gary; husband Joshua (Raymond) Siregar and her son, Jonathan. Left to mourn her memory is her daughter Stacy and husband Gary Powell; son Edward; stepchildren, Jason and Tracy and husband Bryan Currie; sister-in-law, Venus Majeski and her beloved grandson, Christopher Siregar, who made her very proud.  Donna will be long remembered by many loving cousins and friends.  Three “Grand-Kitties”- Percy, Abigail and Bruce are determined to bring comfort to all.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 1, 4:00- 8:00 PM at the Zylka Funeral Home, 513 State Street, Perth Amboy.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 10 AM at St. John Paul II (St. Stephen’s) Roman Catholic Church, 490 State Street, Perth Amboy, followed by interment in Graceland Memorial Park, 1900 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth.
