Ada De Armas (Valdés Mauri) peacefully left this world on February 10, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, courage, and unwavering determination.
Born into a family of 13 siblings, Ada embarked on a courageous journey from Cuba to the United States in 1957 at the age of 17. Alongside her twin sister and a younger sister under the care of her late older brother, Bartolome Valdes Mauri, Ada pursued the American Dream with determination, fueled by her love for her mother left behind in Cuba.
At 18, Ada joined hands in marriage with the late Jesus De Armas in Perth Amboy, NJ. Together, they not only tirelessly worked to achieve their American Dream but also invested in real estate, cultivating a harmonious relationship with tenants over many fruitful years.
Even in the face of Alzheimer's and dementia in her later years, Ada remained a source of inspiration. Finding joy in life's simple pleasures, she reveled in dressing up and wearing makeup. The rhythm of music brought her immense delight, and she often danced and sang to the tunes that resonated with her spirit, particularly her favorite song "Guantanamera."
Ada's life was enriched by her daughter, Iris Marsal, who created a loving and caring environment, sharing moments of joy and comfort. Ada took immense pride in being the grandmother of Olivia and Alyssia. She is also survived by her siblings Angel, Rene, and Gloria Valdes Mauri.
Iris will be forever grateful to the caregivers: Maria, Caroline, Paxton, Myriam, and Edith, who dedicated their time, care, compassion, and love to her mom.
Ada De Armas will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family, her life serving as an enduring inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A beacon of strength, a tireless worker, and a compassionate soul, Ada was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.
As we celebrate Ada's life, let us cherish the indomitable spirit that defined her character. May Ada rest in peace until the day when we are joyfully reunited.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Ada's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
