Charles Peter Tyndorf, 84, of Perth Amboy, passed away on Saturday, January 12th at Haven Hospice in Edison.
Born in Horyszow, Poland, Chet came to the United States in July 1949, living in Boston, Massachusetts and Great Falls, Montana before settling in Perth Amboy in the late 1950's. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict both in Korea and domestically. For more than 25 years, he was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Edison, retiring in 1996. He was a long-time communicant of St. Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy, where he served as an usher and secretary of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed watching the New York Mets and solving puzzles. Above all else, Chet enjoyed spending time with his brothers and especially his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his brothers, Mieczyslaw, Tadeusz, Wesley and Eugene, Chet is survived by his daughters, Christine Fischer and her husband Howard of Scotch Plains and Linda Shjarback and her husband Thomas of Edison, and; his grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Dawn, Michelle and Brian.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday from Zylka Funeral Home, 513 State Street, Perth Amboy followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
